Based in New York City, with offices throughout the United States and worldwide, the Rainforest Alliance works with people whose livelihoods depend on the land, helping them transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and host travelers.
Position Summary
The Country Manager will be responsible for providing effective support for RA activities in Peru by managing the accounting, human resources and administrative functions of all in-country activities. S/he will provide training, guidance and supervision of administrative tasks. S/he will function as the RA representative in Peru and coordinate with all departments/programs/divisions. S/he will also ensure compliance with local and organization-wide RA procedures. S/he will coordinate frequently with the Regional Project Director based in Quito, the New York headquarters (HQ) office, the Regional Operations Manager based in Guatemala City, and with program managers. S/he will provide general oversight of technical activities being implemented in the country.

Responsibilities
Finance and Accounting
- Develop annual office budget according to guidelines from Finance-NY and manage all office administrative expenses;
- Manage office accounting function including procedures related to local registration, monthly field office accounting reports and cash flow projections submitted to the home office, bank accounts, signature on payments for suppliers, payroll, consultants and other payees, and cash flow estimates;
- Oversee the review and oversight of office inventory; approve all purchases and procurements and other expenses;
- Coordinate with external accountants, tax experts and auditors as needed and in consultation with NY HQ;
Human Resources
- Manage human resource activities including job announcements, local recruitments, new hire orientations, annual performance evaluations, and staff development and training programs;
- Oversee payroll processing, tax filing and other related activities, administer staff benefits and maintain personnel records;
- Communicate Human Resource policies and procedures and respond to questions;
- Coordinate with NY HQ on matters related to labor law and regulations;
- Facilitate processing of visa applications as needed;
General Office Administration
- Coordinate in-country legal and fiscal requirements in consultation with home office and act as legal representative and signatory as required;
- Coordinate with home office on insurance coverage and manage process of obtaining any necessary local office insurances;
- Maintain a professional office environment by supervising administrative support staff, managing cleaning and security services, and coordinating the distribution and maintenance of office space;
- Oversee logistics and support any special events and visits by RA staff, partners or supporters from outside of Peru;
- Maintain and distribute office policies and office guidelines and provide all country program and administrative staff with training on procedures;
Program and Project Responsibilities
- Coordinate closely with the ICAA Project Management office in Ecuador, specifically with the Regional Project Director, in matters related to in-country coordination among the different RA programs and projects, teamwork, funding opportunities and the political climate;
- Liaise closely with all in-country program staff and provide administrative and financial support in Peru;
- Work as a facilitator for in-country program staff to work as a team and harness organizational synergy through enhanced coordination and cooperation;
- Organize periodic meetings for team building purposes and to provide effective coordination of RA's in-country activities;
- In coordination with the Regional Project Director, provide program managers with feedback on matters including Peruvian economic environment and outlook, funding opportunities, government and other institutional relations, USAID relations, etc.; and
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- University Degree in business management, administration, accounting, human resources, or related field preferred;
- Minimum 7 - 10 years of experience in office administration, bookkeeping; accounting and/or management;
- Strong management and leadership experience;
- Experience with projects or programs administration;
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Courteous and professional demeanor with experience providing customer service;
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team structure, multi-task and work under tight deadlines;
- Strong computer skills (MS Office and Internet); and
- Dependability and ability to be flexible in a changing and fast-growing environment.
