Daniel Cohen
Daniel Cohen, an education consultant, is the former Director of Education at ReServe, a nonprofit organization that connects experienced encore professionals with compensated service opportunities challenging them to use their skills for the public good. Before joining ReServe, Mr. Cohen purchased two submarines to be used by researchers for ocean study. They have since been donated to Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at Florida Atlantic University. In 1998, Mr. Cohen founded and served as President of Dan Cohen & Sons, LLC, an independent, award-winning television production company. Previously, Mr. Cohen was Senior Vice President of Advertising for The New York Times from 1996 to 1998. During his tenure at The Times, he was also a Vice President of Advertising, Group Director of Promotion, Managing Director of Business Development and held positions in corporate planning and circulation. Early in his career, he spent five years as an on-air television journalist in Orlando, Florida. He has a background in oceanography and theater. His previous appointments include: overseer at Tufts University (his alma mater), board of trustees at Professional Children's School, board member of Children for Children, and the chairman's council at Conservation International.
