Alexandre Boursier has served as the Canada regional manager of the Rainforest Alliance since 2005. Together with his team of 18 staff, he manages 37 million hectares (90 million acres) and more than 450 chains of custody certified to the FSC standard throughout Canada. He also supports the Rainforest Alliance team in Africa. Alex is a forester, as well as a forest management senior auditor. He holds an M.Sc. in social forestry and a B.A. in forest management from University Laval. Prior to joining the Rainforest Alliance, Alex worked for more than eight years in forest conservation in the Americas and in Africa. He worked for the Commission for the study of public forest management in Québec in 2004. He has FSC certification experience in the Canadian provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and in Cameroon and Guinea. He is an instructor for the Rainforest Alliance Lead Auditor Training Course and has implemented numerous Forest Management audits and assessments. Alex is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
