Since joining Rainforest Alliance in 1999, Dave has managed the Northern United States and is currently the United States Manager for RA-Cert, located in Northfield, MN. Prior to coming to Rainforest Alliance, Dave had 16 years of "on the ground" forest management experience, primarily with tribal forestry operations in the United States. Dave received a B.S. degree in Forest Resource Management from the University of Idaho in 1983. Dave spent two years with the United States Forest Service in north Idaho. He then spent five years managing the 232,000 acre forest of the Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin where he held several positions responsible for silviculture, forest development, and timber harvest preparation. In 1992, Dave took a position with the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho where he managed the timber sale division for nine years.
