Roger Deromedi is chairman of Pinnacle Foods, a $3 billion food company based in Parsippany, New Jersey, a position he has held since April of 2007 when Pinnacle was acquired by the Blackstone private equity group.
In March 2013, Pinnacle completed an IPO (NYSE: PF) and is now publicly owned. Pinnacle’s key brands include Birdseye frozen vegetables, Duncan Hines cake mixes, Vlasic pickles, Wishbone salad dressings, and Glutino/Udi’s gluten-free products. Deromedi also advises Blackstone in the consumer goods sector.
Deromedi has nearly 40 years of experience in the global food industry and was CEO of Kraft Foods, the world’s second largest food company at the time. During his career at Kraft, he held a number of leadership positions including president and CEO of Kraft Foods International; president of the company’s Asia Pacific business; president of Kraft’s Western Europe business, based in Zurich; and area director of the company’s business in France, Iberia, and Benelux, based in Paris. Previously, he led Kraft’s cheese and specialty products divisions in the United States. He began his career with General Foods, Kraft’s predecessor company, in 1977.
Deromedi earned a MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1977 and a BA in economics and mathematics from Vanderbilt University in 1975. He is vice-chairman of the Rainforest Alliance’s Board of Directors and also serves on the Board of Directors of Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet. He is on the Board of Trustees of Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History and is a guest lecturer at Vanderbilt University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
