Q&A with Radim Schreiber, Winner of the 2009 Rainforest Alliance Picture Sustainability Photo Contest

To raise awareness of conservation issues and expand our collection of photos for use in publications and on the Web site, the Rainforest Alliance held our second Picture Sustainability photo contest. We received nearly 800 photos and after paring them down to 16 finalists, preeminent nature photographer and contest judge Art Wolfe chose Radim Schreiber as the first place winner. This is the second year in a row that Schreiber took home the first place prize.

A Renewed Call for Biodiversity Conservation in Ecuador

A new study conducted by an impressive group of biologists from Ecuador, the United States and Europe finds that among the many compelling reasons to protect Ecuador's Yasuni National Park is that it harbors the most varied array of plants and animals in South America. Global Conservation Significance of Ecuador's Yasuni National Park "convincingly demonstrates that Yasuni is the most diverse area in South America, and possibly the world," says Anthony Di Fiore, a primotologist at New York University.
