Ethical Corporation Applauds Companies Working with the Rainforest Alliance

In the June issue of United Kingdom-based Ethical Corporation magazine, monthly columnist Greenwasher applauds companies working with the Rainforest Alliance that "get it on responsible business." We couldn't help being pleased by the companies named, the majority of which we're collaborating with. In fact, we work with five of those specifically cited for their commitments to sourcing commodities from sustainably-managed farms and forests.

Report from Kenya -- Part One

In 2007, the Rainforest Alliance launched its tea certification program in Kenya. The first certified farm was Kericho, an estate in Kenya owned by Unilever that supplies the Lipton and PG Tips brands. Recently, Rainforest Alliance president Tensie Whelan traveled to Kenya to attend a meeting of the Unilever Sustainable Agriculture Advisory Board, visit some of Kenya's stunning national parks and see a few of the country's flower farms.

Notes from the Lipton Sweden Launch

Based in the Netherlands, Joke Aerts is the European network coordinator for the Rainforest Alliance's sustainable agriculture program. Regularly on the road she recently headed over to Sweden for the launch of Lipton Sweden, a brand impacted by Unilever's commitment to sourcing its entire tea supply from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. While the Rainforest Alliance has encountered resistance in Sweden –- a country more familiar with, and receptive to, the work of other certification bodies -- thanks to Joke's outreach efforts and those of others on the Rainforest Alliance's European team, Swedish journalists and consumers are beginning to understand and embrace our work to make farming, forestry and tourism socially and environmentally sustainable.
