5.29.2008 What's in a Name? People are sometimes confused about the differences between the Rainforest Alliance, the Rainforest Foundation and the Rainforest Action Network (RAN). It's not a new issue, nor is it one that will ever disappear entirely. Our names do all have one keyword in common. 5.16.2008 Cupping for Quality For the past five years the Rainforest Alliance has hosted an annual Cupping for Quality, a tasting event that brings together a panel of coffee experts to evaluate an array of Rainforest Alliance Certified™ coffees. This year, the cupping took place in two locations simultaneously -- Long Beach, CA and New York, NY. From April 2nd to April 4th, 20 cuppers on two coasts sampled over 90 unique coffees and judged them on 10 criteria including fragrance, uniformity and sweetness. Dresden Joswig, communications assistant for the Rainforest Alliance's New York office, attended the New York event. No additional blog entries were posted during the month. |
