Taking Lessons from the Canopy to the Classroom
In mid-July, Maria Ghiso, education outreach coordinator for the Rainforest Alliance, and Manju Misra, lead science teacher at New Jersey's Quitman Street Community School, traveled to El Salvador where they toured the majestic El Imposible National Park. Since many of the students they meet in the US will never have the opportunity to see a rainforest firsthand, the two are working to turn their experiences into a compelling curriculum that brings the magic of the rainforest back to the classroom.
