Rainforest Alliance Evaluation:

Methodology Assessment for use with the Verified Carbon Standard 2007.

The methodology pioneers an approach to quantifying the greenhouse gas benefits of avoiding land-use change on peat lands in South East Asia. It will be used by projects seeking validation and/or verification to the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), and was assessed by the Rainforest Alliance to ensure that it conforms to the VCS’ requirements. Our assessment report demonstrates that these types of projects can ensure scientific rigor while handling the inherent uncertainties associated with peat-land emissions to produce credible, conservative and verifiable emissions reductions.
