REDD Methodology Modules
The REDD methodology modules, taken as a whole, constitute a complete REDD baseline and monitoring methodology. The Rainforest Alliance assessed a total of 17 modules and tools that are applicable to project activities that reduce emissions from planned and unplanned deforestation and for activities that reduce emissions from forest degradation. The modules address issues ranging from estimates of carbon stocks in various carbon pools (above- and below-ground biomass, soil carbon, etc.) to estimates of emissions associated with fuelwood extraction, market-based activities and biomass burning.
Given their flexible nature, is anticipated that the approval of these modules by the Verified Carbon Standard will facilitate the development of REDD projects globally – particularly those that aim to meet that standard.
