Working for the Forest and Community in the Bolivian Amazon

Publicado: enero 2012
Since 2009, the Rainforest Alliance has been helping community groups and businesses in Bolivia’s Northern La Paz Department to adopt sustainable forestry and become more competitive. With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Gibson Foundation and the Tinker Foundation, the Rainforest Alliance has helped six citizens’ groups called Agrupaciones Sociales de Lugar (ASLs) and various businesses to improve their forest management, worker well-being and biodiversity conservation. The results include safer working conditions, a higher standard of living for local families and stronger organizations that are better prepared to defend the more than 350,000 acres of Amazon rainforest that they manage from the threat of deforestation.
