Non-Timber Forest Products

Brazil nuts
Forests with the potential for forest production in the Southwest Amazon (Brazil, Southern Peru and Northern Bolivia) cover more than 15 million hectares, and both timber and non-timber species are harvested, commercially and for subsistence use. The Rainforest Alliance promotes the sustainable extraction of these forest products that provide a livelihood for the vast majority of people in the region; people who therefore have a vested interest in ensuring the sustainability of these forests.
