Coral Reefs: Rainforests of the Ocean
Dr. Sylvia Earle, renowned oceanographer and marine biologist, gave a talk about the ecological parallels between two distinct ecosystems: coral reefs and rainforests. Drawing upon her pioneering research, record-breaking dives, and her distinguished career as Chief Scientist of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration and explorer-in-residence at the National Geographic Society, she spoke of the connections between humans and the natural environment, and our responsibility to future generations. Dr. Earle stressed the importance of educating ourselves and others about the impacts of our daily choices. This event was part of our Canopy Associates Conservation Briefings Series.
