Sustainable Agriculture Network Standards
The Standards & Policy Secretariat of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) serves as the standard-setter of the SAN and is supported by the Rainforest Alliance's agriculture program. The standards development processes comply with the Code of Good Practice for Setting Social and Environmental Standards of the International Social and Environmental Accreditation and Labeling Alliance. The Alliance is an association of leading international standard-setting and conformity assessment organizations that focus on social and environmental issues.

Note: The SAN board of directors approved a new, restructured Sustainable Agriculture Standard in February 2008. The Farm Certification Policy regulates the use of the Standard for audit processes on farms on which more than 100 crops are grown. The February 2008 version of the Standard does not contain any changes with respect to binding contents in comparison with the previous version and the Additional Criteria for Specific Crops associated with it. The Table of Comparisons illustrates the restructuring process.
The documents listed below are no longer applicable:
- Sustainable Agriculture Standard, November 2005
- Sustainable Agriculture Standard with Indicators, November 2005
