Planning, Management and Economic Alternatives: Conservation Trails

Through the Initiative for the Conservation of the Andean Amazon (ICAA), a program created by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Rainforest Alliance leads the Sustainable Landscapes Consortium, which is working with local NGOs AIDER and ECOLEX to reduce the loss of biodiversity in Ecuador’s Napo River basin and the Cusco and Madre de Dios regions in Peru. This fact sheet explains the project’s work to promote the planning and adoption of sustainable natural resource management practices, strengthen environmental governance and administration, and improve sustainable livelihoods through the creation of natural resource based economic opportunities for local populations.
