Introducing Sustainable Finance

Obtaining credit for the investments needed to meet the rigorous sustainability requirements of Rainforest Alliance certification can pose a significant obstacle to cash-strapped smallholder farmers and foresters. Our new Sustainable Finance Initiative works with lenders, cooperatives, farmers and foresters to improve access to credit, so that producers can invest in their land -- and their futures.

	Stewards of Colombia’s Forests Working forests may not be as photogenic as virgin rainforests, but they are critical to maintaining the health of a landscape in timber-producing regions. To learn more about sustainable forestry, Rainforest Alliance staffer Jungwon Kim visited the Resforestadora El Guásimo, a Rainforest Alliance-FSC Certified pine forest farm located in Colombia.

	The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.
