Connecting Conservationists
The Rainforest Alliance maintains two satellite websites aimed at connecting conservationists online:
The Eco-Index
The Eco-Index® is a bilingual database of more than 1,250 conservation projects in the Americas. Eco-Exchange, Eco-Index’s electronic environmental magazine, features articles about conservation efforts and issues in the Americas. Building on the Rainforest Alliance’s culture of fostering connections among businesses, harvesters and consumers, the Eco-Index website provides conservation stakeholders with high-quality, bilingual resources to share data and reports, best practices, and lessons learned about sustainable natural resource management projects in the Americas -- North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Western Hemisphere Migratory Species Initiative Pathway
All of the countries in the Western Hemisphere share a common heritage -- our migratory species, including birds, sea turtles, butterflies, whales and more. As these species’ ranges span national borders, well-coordinated international cooperation is necessary to ensure their conservation. The Western Hemisphere Migratory Species Initiative (WHMSI), comprised of staff from government agencies and conservation NGOs, aims to conserve migratory species, their key habitats and migratory routes by identifying and addressing their priority needs. To support this ambitious goal, the Rainforest Alliance provides the WHMSI Pathway, a Web site that matches migratory species conservation needs with the conservation projects, tools, and resources that are available to address them.
