These 13 Instagram Celebs Follow the Frog

We at the Rainforest Alliance work hard to create a world in which people and nature thrive in harmony—and we know you do, too. That’s why, during our recently wrapped-up 2018 #FollowTheFrog campaign, we asked our amazing Instagram followers to share what they do—in areas such as water use, waste reduction, and community volunteering—to live a sustainable life. We posed a different question every day for two weeks, and at the end we randomly selected two winners to receive a prize package full of Rainforest Alliance Certified™ goodies, a zero-waste starter kit, and more.

We have almost 100,000 awesome Instagram followers but we can’t take all the credit for how massive our two-week long sustainability celebration was. Some of Instagram’s coolest sustainability and conservation voices trumpeted our celebration on their own accounts, helping to make our sustainability celebration one big hoppin’ party. Together with you and them we showed the world that it actually is easy being green (sorry, Kermit). Check out their posts here.

The rainforest only covers 10% of the Earth's land surface but makes up 50% of it's biodiversity. The rainforest is losing 32 million acres every year to cattle, soy, loggers, and palm oil. I went to the Osher Rainforest at California Academy of the Sciences which highlights how we can protect the rainforest like opting for plant based meals, and when you're checking certification labels, make sure to #FollowtheFrog! . I'm excited to be partnering with @RainforestAlliance for their annual #FollowtheFrog campaign. . Farms that produce Rainforest Alliance Certified (RAC) ingredients in your favorite products have been audited to meet rigorous environmental, social, and economic sustainability standards. To learn more about RAC head to my stories and follow @RainforestAlliance. They'll be running a giveaway, today until September 23rd, and you don't want to miss out! #RainforestAllianceCertified #GoingZeroWaste *Sponsored*

DID YOU KNOW?! Rainforests are one of the most efficient fighters against global warming? 🌳🌴🌳 (This post is a paid partnership with @rainforestalliance ) 🐸 Rainforests are often called the lungs of the earth and is vital for our climate as they absorb enormous amounts of CO2 while providing the earth with oxygen. This means that the rainforests on our planet can help fight the climate change that is threatening our and future generations. 🐸 Deforestation is a major problem in our world since the carbon dioxide is still increasing but our rainforests are decreasing due to creating room for plantations of palm trees, using timber for paper or furniture and to make room for cattle ranching 🐸 What can you as an individual do to help the rainforests? • Avoid buying products with palm oil as an ingredient • Eat less meat, or even better, go vegan • When shopping look for products with the green frog seal that are certified by the Rainforest Alliance • Support tree planting organisations 🐸 September 10-23rd @RainforestAlliance is doing a #FollowtheFrog giveaway. During the giveaway, they will be highlighting the ways in which products sourced from Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM farms and forests, and their work with local communities around the world, promote a more sustainable future. 🐸 They want to hear from you! Enter the contest by answering how you incorporate sustainability into your own daily lives, in relation to each day's sustainability topic. Follow @RainforestAlliance and tag two friends with your answers. You only need to answer under one of the weeks' posts to be entered. There will be one winner each week (two in total). Entry deadlines are September 16th and September 23rd. 🐸 Photo from 2017 in the second oldest tropical rainforest in the world in Taman Negara National Park, Malaysia. #FollowTheFrog #RainforestAllianceCertified

I've partnered with @rainforestalliance on an education campaign and giveaway... 🌿 I'm sure I watched hundreds of nature documentaries growing up, but the topic I came back to again and again was the rainforest. Simply put, it was enchanting, and as a young kid with an active imagination, who wouldn't be mesmerized by tales of jaguars, river dolphins, toothy piranha, poisonous frogs, sloths, monkeys, not to mention the vast mystery of life bustling beneath the canopy on the dark forest floor? While other kids were playing Oregon Trail, I was busy playing Amazon Trail (no, I never finished - spear hunting for fish is hard!). 🌳 I love the rainforest but, as in all things, loving something well takes work and attention. Due to unsustainable demand for certain types of food, like red meat and coffee, we're losing 123,000 acres of forested land per day across the globe, which means the forest can't do its job of reducing carbon, regulating weather patterns, and even regulating ocean currents. 🍃 By moderating our individual and collective demand for unsustainable foods, choosing sustainable and recycled paper goods (like toilet paper) and reducing our reliance on paper overall, and prioritizing sustainable and local farms, we can make a big impact. Buying Rainforest Alliance Certified products with the green frog seal also helps, and they'll be happy to tell you how... 🌱 Until September 23rd, @rainforestalliance is doing a #followthefrog giveaway in which they'll share the myriad ways their programs are working to save the planet. Here are the rules... 🐸 Enter the contest by going to the @rainforestalliance page, finding their #followthefrog campaign posts, and answering how you incorporate sustainability into your own daily lives, in relation to each day's sustainability topic. Follow @RainforestAlliance and tag two friends with your answers. You only need to answer under one of the weeks' posts to be entered. There will be one winner each week (two in total). Entry deadlines are Sep 16 and Sep 23. #followthefrog #rainforestalliancecertified #sponsored

I've partnered with the @RainforestAlliance for a giveaway! Read on to find out how to enter. I visited not one but three different coffee farms when we went to Nicaragua. And by far the most impressive was this one. Yup, this is what a #RainforestAllianceCertified coffee farm looks like: it's actually a rainforest! (Look closely - the coffee bushes are on the bottom left.) The highest quality coffee is shade-grown under rainforest trees. Not only does it taste better, it allows farmers and communities to earn a living while preserving the rainforest. You just need to look for the @rainforestalliance seal on your coffee to get in on this tasty and eco-friendly goodness. What do YOU do to protect the rainforest? From September 10-23rd @RainforestAlliance is doing a #FollowtheFrog giveaway, highlighting the ways in which products sourced from Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM farms, in partnership with local communities around the world, promote a more sustainable future. Enter the contest by sharing how you incorporate sustainability into your own daily life for each day's sustainability topic. Follow @RainforestAlliance and tag two friends with your answers. x @RainforestAlliance #FollowTheFrog GIVEAWAY // Why do you love rainforests?🌎❤️ . Rainforests are so magical to me for their rich biodiversity full of weird looking creatures, colorful plants, and lush landscapes.🌎🌿 . But beyond the looks, rainforests are functional - they help transport water from coastal regions inland to dryer regions (storing and releasing water as vapor into clouds and rain!). Rich biodiversity also means less disease, more stable ecosystems, more nutrient-rich soils (more carbon sequestration), and even potential for us to discover lesser-known plants with medicinal properties to treat our current untreatable illnesses (many modern medications are derived or inspired by nature!).🌲🌲 . This is why I'm so excited to partner with @RainforestAlliance, which is on a mission to ensuring people and nature can thrive in harmony. Personally, I try to protect our rainforests by avoiding products that contain palm oil from southeast Asia (as native forests there are being cleared for palm oil plantations which require loads of pesticides, strip the land of healthy soil, and remove the rainforest plants and animals' natural habitats).🌼🌾 . I also #FollowTheFrog and support products with Rainforest Alliance's highly recognizable certification, which helps to ensure what we buy supports, rather than harms, our planet's ecosystems.🌎✨ . What about you? @RainforestAlliance wants to hear from you! The organization is running #FollowTheFrog giveaways (Sept 10 - 23) on its feed right now. Follow @RainforestAlliance for more info, and enter the giveaways by tagging 2 pals and letting them know how you incorporate sustainability into your daily life in relation to each day's topic!💙💚 . Entry deadlines are Sept 16 & 23rd. You only need to submit one entry to be entered. Good luck, and here's to protecting our biodiverse, beautiful rainforests!🌴🌸 . Let me know below what rainforests you've visited and loved, or hope to visit next 😁🌎

🍌We are bananas for bananas in our household 🍌 But rather than throw away them when they go black and mouldy, we turn them into cake with chocolate bits through it (yum!) It's just one of the ways we're trying to live more sustainably by reducing food waste and hopefully teaching Daisy & Laurie the importance of this. When buying bananas (& chocolate) I look out to see whether they are @RainforestAlliance CertifiedTM. Because then I know that they have been grown in a way that conserves forests and ensures sustainable livelihoods for farmers, to help create a world where people and nature thrive in harmony. So next time you buy bananas look out for the frog logo to help protect our beautiful rainforests. And if you want to know what it looks like scroll through the pictures! #FollowTheFrog From September 11-23rd @RainforestAlliance is doing a #FollowtheFrog giveaway. It is no secret that forest destruction sits high on the human pyramid of vacuous venality, especially when it comes to rainforests. In my lifetime thus far, forests have been falling at such an alarming rate that according to the @rainforestalliance each minute, 85 acres are destroyed completely. There are a myriad of completely selfish reasons we should protect the rainforest, in fact, I've shared 6 of the most basic ones on my blog today (via the link in my profile). ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ While the solutions to the problems faced by deforestation across the globe are complex, there is one super simple way you can adjust your purchases slightly to help. When you're shopping for your food, beauty products and so on, just look for the @rainforestalliance seal and buy that instead of your usual. It will ensure the purchase you make, is at least considering the health of the rainforest and the rights of their workers in the process of producing their product. I've shared 10 simple spots you can make these adjustments as well as brands which I personally support or know of that proudly hold this seal.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣ @rainforestalliance has made uncovering these products even easier with a GIVEAWAY they're hosting, from now until September 23rd their #FollowtheFrog giveaway will be highlighting the ways in which Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM products, in partnership with local communities around the world, promote a more sustainable future.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ To enter, they just want to know how you incorporate sustainability into your life in relation to each day's sustainability topic, tagging two friends in your answer. It's a fun way to learn some new tricks and be inspired by others. You also need to follow @RainforestAlliance (which we should all be doing anyway, giveaway or not). You only need to answer under one of the weeks' posts to be entered. There will be one winner each week (two in total). 😨 Did you know humans have destroyed half the world's forests since 1970?! If we keep up this rate of deforestation half of what we have now will be gone in just nine years, and there will be nothing left by 2060. .🌳 Forests clean our air, absorb poisonous carbon dioxide that causes climate change, and help regulate global temperatures and rising seas. They are responsible for as much as 1/5 of the world's fresh water. . 🐸That's why I'm taking part in the #FollowTheFrog campaign this year, celebrating 30 years of powerful work by the @RainforestAlliance to protect one of our most precious resources. The @rainforestalliance green frog seal indicates that a farm or forest where the product comes from meets all three pillars of sustainability--social, economic, and environmental. . 👉🏼So this week find a frog, take a selfie, and vote with your dollars! Also enter their $300+ #zerowaste #sustainablestyle giveaway from now until September 23. 🌏

The @RainforestAlliance is an international nonprofit organization that stands for biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods, something I stand for too. We want to rebalance the planet and this cannot be possible without FORESTS. They say that 'forests are a source of air, water, shelter and medicine for life itself. And we, humans, have destroyed 80% of the world's forests'. We have the power to change that by taking small steps, like looking for Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM products, so you make sure that those products are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable. So I encourage you to #FollowTheFrog and do something for our forests. The Rainforest Alliance is doing a giveaway and they want to hear from you! Enter the contest by answering how do you incorporate sustainability into your own daily lives, in relation to each day's sustainability topic. Follow @RainforestAlliance and tag two friends with your answers (you only need to answer under one of the week's posts to be entered and there will be one winner each week) entry deadlines are September 16th and September 13th! 🌲

It's estimated that in 100 years there won't be any rainforests left 🍃 • No selfies, no instagrams like this, nothing. Don't you want to wander the world without worrying when natural wonders like this will fade away...? • Traveling is so near and dear to my heart -- this trip in particular bc it was the last big voyage I took before being diagnosed with cancer. It was when I heard the phrase, "Here and now" sitting atop Machu Picchu -- a phrase that has followed me, grounded me, and lifted me throughout my cancer journey and recovery. Traveling has progressed my self-development and consciousness unlike anything else. There's something about stepping outside of your bubble that opens your eyes, awakens your soul, and broadens your perspective 🌟 We can't let these enlightening moments slip away. Don't be THAT person who says your actions don't matter. They do. All 7.6 billion of our actions matter 🌎🤝 • See below for a handful of sustainable ways I personally fight our planet's environmental challenges -- 1. #Followthefrog logo and choose products sourced from @rainforestalliance -certified farms and forests 🐸❤️ Until 9/23 they are doing a special giveaway worth over $300!! Follow, tag two friends, and answer one of their sustainability-related questions to enter! 2. Eat a plant-based diet 🌿Livestock production is responsible for 14.5 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions ☠️ 3. Conserve water 💧Turn off the facet when brushing your teeth or washing the dishes! So simple. 4. Shop second-hand and eco-friendly whenever possible 🛍 Shout out to one of my favorites @therealreal! 5. Carry @togoware bamboo utensils, lunch box, reusable straw and cup. • Check out more tips in my roundup for @marieclaire on how to save the planet, while saving money 💚💸 (link in bio)
