UTZ and the Rainforest Alliance merged to become one organization in 2018. By joining forces, we have combined the leadership, expertise, and longstanding partnerships of two leading international organizations. Together we can have a greater impact and be an even stronger partner to our many stakeholders. We are continuing to build a powerful alliance of companies, farmers, foresters, communities, governments, civil society and consumers committed to creating a better future for people and nature by making responsible business the new normal.
The new strategy
Over the past year we have worked hard on the strategy for the “new” Rainforest Alliance. In this new strategy we harness the power of the market to drive positive social, economic, and environmental change along the entire supply chain. It is built on four market-based, mutually reinforcing interventions which represent the greatest strengths of both pre-merger organizations: Reimagined Certification, Landscapes & livelihoods, Tailored Supply Chain Services and Advocacy.
Britta Wyss Bisang, Chief of Sustainable Supply Chains at the Rainforest Alliance: “In order to respond to the urgent issues of today, we believe we must boldly evolve our certification system. Reimagining our certification system is therefore at the heart of our new strategy, designed to create the conditions for lasting change.”
The principle of reimagining certification as well as the other three key intervention areas are explained in greater detail by Britta Wyss Bisang in the video below.
Be part of our alliance
Our greatest strength is our alliance itself. By working together with diverse stakeholders including farmers, businesses, consumers, and more, we can improve livelihoods, protect biodiversity, amplify the voices of farmers and forest communities, and help them mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Together, we can achieve our vision of a world where people and nature thrive in harmony. Be part of our alliance!
