Position summary:

The Human Resources (HR) Associate, under the supervision of the HR Business Partner for Asia and Africa who is based in Amsterdam, is responsible for a broad range of HR functions related to payroll, benefits and entitlements, performance management, recruitment and oversight of the maintenance of personnel files and information held in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for all staff in Indonesia and will support the HR Business Partner for HR functions for other countries in Asia. The HR Associate Asia will also support the HR Business Partner in specific HR related global projects as learning and development, performance and talent management.


The HR Associate is, under the supervision of the HR Business Partner, responsible for a broad range of HR functions in Indonesia and will support the HR Business Partner with HR functions in other countries in Asia:

  • Execute a full range of HR functions related to recruitment, onboarding, payroll, performance management, and staff development; ensuring that established work plans and regular HR support activities are delivered consistent with standards and schedules;
  • Administer staff benefits (e.g. allowances, medical, pension) ensuring that guidelines are properly observed and that these are available for staff to receive or avail;
  • Support the HR Business Partner in the development of tools and training modules to strengthen the staff in the Asia Region;
  • Advise HR Business Partner & Country Lead Indonesia on issues related to non-compliance with HR guidelines by Rainforest Alliance personnel, as well as anticipate issues that may affect the delivery of HR services;
  • Support local Managers in Indonesia on development and performance management of their teams to strengthen accountability and their ability to deliver;
  • Explain guidelines and processes for benefits and other entitlements to ensure compliance in Indonesia;
  • Oversee the maintenance of Rainforest Alliance personnel files and data held in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) in support of day-to-day operations and planning;
  • Consolidate and maintain documentation on issues and best practices to support process improvement activities;
  • Provide training to local staff on HR processes to support buy-in and accountability.


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field;
  • Minimum 4 years’ professional human resources experience required;
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Indonesian labor law and the associated administrative requirements;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse internal and external individuals;
  • Written and verbal proficiency in business English essential;
  • Excellent computer skills:  Microsoft Word, Excel, and HRIS administration experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Flexible attitude;
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially; and
  • Experience in a not-for-profit and international environment preferred.


Commensurate with experience.
