Position summary:

Rainforest Alliance’s Tailored Programs department supports companies to adopt best-in-class definitions and tools for establishing and implementing commitments on responsible sourcing, allowing them to translate policy into practical, achievable actions that lead to positive social and environmental impacts within priority supply chains. Under the supervision of the Lead for Field Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Services for Tailored Programs, the position will ensure day-to-day management of Tailored Program’s projects portfolio and provide general technical support for field M&E services across Africa. Specifically, the position will support each lead to ensure project outputs and activities are delivered on time and to a high standard. He/she will also be responsible for consolidating and archiving Rainforest Alliance’s systems, tools and best practices related to field M&E services and applying lessons to the ongoing technical design of Rainforest Alliance’s certification system.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage implementation of Field Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) activities for RA’s West Africa Tailored Programs portfolio, including survey design, development of training materials and organization and delivery of training workshops, organization of data collection campaigns;
  • Support data collection teams by explaining M&E concepts, describing basic cocoa and coffee production practices, and arranging logistics;
  • Support the management of Field M&E data, including data entry, quality control, and statistical analysis;
  • Coordinate with Field M&E team members to analyze, report, and interpret field data into actionable information for our clients;
  • Synthesize and archive new lessons and best practices generated through field M& services to inform ongoing technical design of RA’s certification system;
  • Provide support to West Africa strategy implementation, in particular ensuring strong alignment for market M&E service needs with the regional monitoring and evaluation framework;
  • Create, maintain and adjust project workplans and budgets to fulfill project reporting requirements and ensure activities are delivered and outputs achieved on time and to a high standard; and
  • Ability to travel to remote locations in Cote d Ivoire, Kenya, and other countries as needed.

Qualifications:

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, international development, social sciences, economics, ecology, natural resources management, or a related field;
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible work experience in economic development/ sustainability/ FMCG or agricultural supply chains or similar;
  • Knowledge of M&E and verification best practices and tools related to agricultural supply chains and/ or rural development;
  • Knowledge of global reporting frameworks, sector partnerships/platforms, CSR, responsible sourcing commitments/policies;
  • Experience working in partnership with the private sector;
  • Fluency in English and French;
  • Ability to work independently and with multi-disciplinary teams, multi-task and work under tight deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including preparing technical reports and presenting and visualizing monitoring data;
  • Experience in coffee/cocoa supply chains; and
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, intermediate knowledge of statistics and GIS and proficiency with project management tools a plus.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
