Position summary:

The Sector Lead will be responsible for defining clear sector plans and recommending impactful strategies for the banana sector toward the goal of sector transformation. As part of this, the sector lead will convene internal cross-functional teams in order to co-create organizational sector strategies and plans and facilitate alignment of these plans with individual department plans.

S/he will also manage select global key account in banana to identify and leverage concrete market opportunities that accelerate farm impact. The sector lead will articulate and drive strategy with key global multi-stakeholder platforms. The Sector Lead will also work to develop our program in other fruits and juices and will provide input into our evolving retail strategy. Finally, the banana sector lead will drive the banana sector strategy on behalf of markets and will work closely with other relevant departments such as Core Markets, Tailored Programs, Regions, Themes and Partnerships, Advocacy and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Convene a cross functional team to drive organization sector strategy and plan in bananas.
  • Drive opportunities with key global accounts and multi-stakeholder platforms to advance sector plans and work closely with leads in core markets to continue to identify other market-facing opportunities.
  • Build and drive the banana sector strategy for market transformation.
  • Position Rainforest Alliance as a thought leader on sustainability in the sector and cultivate change agents within the banana sector that can spearhead the structural changes needed to build a more sustainable industry.
  • Work closely with the retail strategy lead to develop and drive intervention strategies with retail partners.

Facilitate quarterly cross-functional sector working group review meetings

  • Ensure the growth of demand for Rainforest Alliance sustainability offerings in the sector
  • Continue to develop our program in other fruits and juices including working on development of the revenue and traceability systems for these crops.

Qualifications:

  • Master degree in business administration; business economics; natural resource management; or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Deep knowledge and awareness of sector
  • Proven experience in building and working well in cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing large strategic corporate accounts
  • Strategic and analytical thinker.
  • Strong communication skills and gravitas to be able to serve as a spokesperson for the organization.
  • Collaborative and solid record building and working in teams
  • People management experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% of time

Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
