Senior Associate - Fruit Sector

Position summary:

Support project implementation activities under the current banana grant in Costa Rica, Guatemala and Ecuador. Including delivery of technical assistance activities in agricultural best practices, and ensuring timely and quality reporting by local partners, project staff and consultants.


  • Conduct regular review and monitoring of local implementation partners, national staff and consultants;
  • Develop regular reports that record the progress, achievement, risks and challenges using the Rainforest Alliance PMP online system;
  • Implement training activities with special focus on TR4, pesticide use, climate resilience;
  • Provide stakeholder engagement thru regular meetings with local implementation partners, private companies, ministries, other key stakeholders;
  • Support the establishment of a baseline of pesticide and fertilizer use;
  • Support impact case study implementation;
  • Support regular training activities with certified operations focused on the new certification standard.


  • BA or BS Degree in Agronomy or Natural Resource related field (i.e. Forestry, Wildlife, Biology).
  • Minimum of five years’ experience, in banana and/or pineapple production.
  • Three years of experience in Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture certification and other major tropical fruit production protocols.
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive manner.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 30% per year, nationally and internationally.
