The Sustainable Landscapes Specialist will be directly responsible for the high-quality implementation of activities related to the Rainforest Alliance-led pilot of the Landscape Standard (LS) in Mexico. The LS is a collaborative initiative, led by the Rainforest Alliance, VERRA and the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance, which aims to drive improvements in sustainability performance at the landscape scale. The LS provides a scientifically rigorous yet practical set of principles, criteria, and indicators to assess the state and trajectory of sustainability within a landscape (such as a watershed, eco-region or jurisdiction). This framework can be used by communities, businesses, governments and investors to demonstrate progress towards sustainability commitments. This will enable market and financial incentives to be linked to improvements in sustainability performance at the landscape level.
The Sustainable Landscapes Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day leadership, advisory, monitoring, problem solving and quality control to ensure effective and timely implementation and of the Mexico LS pilot.
S/he will coordinate quarterly and annual reporting processes relevant to the implementation of LS in Mexico and ensure timely submission to the Landscape Standard Senior Manager to satisfy donor reporting requirements.
The Specialist will be responsible for designing implementing and monitoring the Mexico LS pilot work plan and other related documents and protocols established by Rainforest Alliance and the Landscape Standard Secretariat, while also representing the LS pilot in Mexico, in consortium-level meetings, events, and public forums.
This position will require that the Specialist be responsible for coordinating and conducting stakeholder engagement at the national, state, and local level for the purposes of establishing and facilitating a local advisory committee and a multi-stakeholder platform through which landscape-level planning, implementation, and feedback concerning the continual improvement of the LS can occur.
This position will liaise closely with the Sr. Project Manager in Mexico and will be the focal point with donors and other stakeholders related to the LS in Mexico.
Commensurate with experience.
