Highlights of Key Changes Include:

  • Messaging – Updated messaging statements to make our guidance more accurate for you.
  • Supply Shortage Policy – Addition of a Supply Shortage policy outlining what to do if you find yourself without enough supply of certified inputs or ingredients for your products with the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal.
  • Synthetic Ingredients – Addressing the issue of synthetic ingredients – such as vanillin or synthetic rubber – in calculating the percentage of certified content.
  • Option A – Updating Option A for multi-ingredient products to simplify our labeling requirements for those that may reach the 90-100% certified threshold for the entire product.
  • Option C – Formally adding Orange Juice as a product that is eligible for Option C, Controlled Blending.
  • Traceability – Clarifying the traceability requirements and what we look for on invoice documentation for crops other than coffee, cocoa and tea.
  • Chain of Custody – Adding the link to the Chain of Custody Risk Assessment (CRA) online at http://apps.san.ag/cra/aq.php to make it easier to start the Chain of Custody process.
