Now Onyx Punta Cana Resort & Spa

| |

Located in La Hispaniola Island, Province of La Altagracia, Punta Cana is one of the main tourist destinations in the Dominican Republic & the Caribbean. It encompasses a tourist corridor of more than 70km including the beaches of Juanillo, Cap Cana, Punta Cana, Cabeza de Toro, Cabo Engaño, Bávaro, El Cortecito, Arena Gorda and Uvero Alto.

Away from the noises of the city, the natural paradise of Uvero Alto attracts tourists with its untouched, palm tree studded beaches. Development began in the area in 1980, and it now offers a great variety of excursions to the jungle, scuba diving in neighboring islands and coral reefs, golf courses, nightclubs, restaurants, and beautiful beaches.

The closest city to Uvero Alto is Higuey, which is one hour away from the resort. An international airport and a highway strategically connect Uvero Alto to the main tourist destinations on the island including La Romana, Santo Domingo, and the Dominican Republic capital, which is located two hours further to the west and is the first city of the new world.

We take environmental stewardship and sustainability seriously, and we have corporate policies that support our best practices.

We boost the local economy by sourcing local products, and over 90% of our employees are Dominican nationals. We deploy an extensive training program to our staff at all levels, with a high ratio of certification in the different competences.

Likewise, we promote Dominican cultural awareness among guests through our entertainment program. We also celebrate special national holidays, international days, and environmental calendar days with both guests and staff.

Our guests are informed about our beautiful country and everything it has to offer through our Service Directory and Web-App. We utilize our digital platforms to communicate including TVs in the suites, our Web-App and several other screens located throughout the resort. These allow our guests to check hotel information, local information, sustainability practices, and more without using printed copies.

We reduce our environmental impact by separating our wastes and recycling as much as possible. We constantly encourage guests and staff to participate in prevention programs to reduce the waste of water and energy.

Additionally, we promote awareness to our employees, guests, and social media community through our #EcoTips, where we encourage best practices like avoiding the use of straws, mindful towels and linens usage policy, preference for local products and more. We actively participate in clean-up campaigns of local beaches and natural areas. We also support non-profit social organizations such as local schools, nearby vulnerable populations, environmentally protected areas and nearby historical sites. Our resort is also a proud member of TheCode.org.
