Secrets Huatulco respects and conserves our region’s natural heritage through beach cleanups, reforestation activities, and by supporting Huatulco National Park. We also have an inventory of local plants and animals. Our Reciclón project collects electronic waste from the entire community of Bahías de Huatulco, in order to ensure its responsible disposal. We actively participate in recycling programs and provide reusable paper to the Piña Palmera Civil Association, where people with special needs use paper to create crafts that they then sell to earn an income. Secret Huatulco uses clean energy from a wind farm, and conserves electricity and water. We participate in the Huatulco Carbon Neutral program, which aims to reduce our carbon footprint through the purchase of carbon credits earned from the reforestation of certified forests.

Secrets Huatulco’s “Our Roots” program involves our guests in local culture through events, contests, food exhibitions, customs, clothing, music and local dance. We also support projects that restore historic and sacred sites such as Cruz del Monte and the Copalita Eco Archaeological Park. We support local development by participating in programs like “Let's Help”, which donates supplies to local schools, and “Step by Step”, which donates shoes to local children. We have committed to sourcing our foods from local suppliers to support the local economy, and we hire local employees for positions at various levels.
