Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancún is on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, 15 miles (24 km) south of Cancun and 20 minutes from Cancún International Airport. With a contemporary design, Secrets Silversands sits in lush tropical vegetation bordered by peaceful beaches and the cool blue waters of the Riviera Cancún. Nearby parks offer eco-adventure sports such as mountain biking, scuba diving, underground river exploration, hiking, bird watching, and fishing. We are also close to iconic Mayan archaeological sites, golf courses, shops, and gourmet restaurants.

As part of our “In Support of our Community” program, we develop the following environmentally-themed activities in our hotel:

  • In January, for World Environmental Education Day, we hold a reforestation campaign with the Teresa de Jesús Magaña kindergarten class in Villas la Playa Puerto Morelos to raise local children’s awareness of the importance that plants have in our lives and what they are used for.
  • In March, we participated in the Earth Hour campaign with guests and hotel staff to raise awareness about energy conservation. We also held a bike tour to support the employees who are increasingly using this mode of transportation and to encourage more physical activity.
  • In April, on Earth Day we played a game with the guests and employees to highlight the importance of this day and the need to care for our Mother Earth.
  • In May, we celebrated Biodiversity Day by visiting the Botanical Garden of Puerto Morelos and enjoyed a talk on plant germination.
