When you see our frog on your favorite foods and beverages—like coffee, tea, cocoa, and bananas—you can feel confident that these products help build a better world for people and nature.

Our Seals
Sustainable Agriculture Certification
Our world-renowned little green frog seal means that farms and companies support healthy forests, better farmer livelihoods, human rights, good environmental practices, as well as climate resilience.
Regenerative Agriculture Certification
The newest member of our seal family represents all the most critical elements of our Sustainable Agriculture Certification, with additional requirements for soil health, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
What does it take to become certified?
A lot! Farms and companies have to meet a set of rigorous requirements (known as a standard) to earn certification.
Our Sustainable Agriculture Certification is based on the Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standard, while our newer Regenerative Agriculture Certification is based on the Rainforest Alliance Regenerative Agriculture Standard.
Independent auditors visit periodically to check that farms and companies are meeting the requirements of their chosen standard. When they do, they are awarded certification—and only then may they display that standard’s seal on their products.

Ever wonder why we’re so sweet on frogs? That’s because frogs are bio-indicators—meaning that when frog populations are healthy, so are ecosystems. Our founders chose the red-eyed tree frog as our mascot in the late 1980s because it is common in Costa Rica, where the Rainforest Alliance first began working to protect forests and transform the way food is grown. And now that little frog represents our commitment to you, the consumer, that the product it appears on supports a better world for people and nature.
That’s why you should follow the frog! Look for our seals at the supermarket and in your favorite coffee shops.
Keep an eye out for our Forest Allies label, too, which shows support for community forestry in some of the world’s most precious tropical landscapes.

While certification alone can’t solve massive problems like climate change or human rights abuses, it can help pressure companies to do the right thing—but only if people like you buy products with one of our trusted seals when you shop. Together, we can have an enormous impact.
