Stopping deforestation could prevent the next pandemic

We work with communities, companies, scientists, and governments to develop sustainable economies in and around the world’s vital rainforests. Please join our alliance and help create a better future for people and nature!

Nearly half of the Earth’s original forest cover has already been lost, and each year an additional 32 million acres are destroyed. Deforestation not only drives mass extinction––it fuels our climate crisis, imperils the rainfall that farmers depend on, and increases our exposure to infectious disease pandemics through zoonosis (the transfer of disease between animals and humans).

Our future depends on what we do now. Conserving the world’s remaining forests is essential to the future of humanity, as well as millions of plants and animal species. It is up to all of us to be good responsible stewards by protecting forests and transforming irresponsible agriculture—the number one driver of tropical deforestation—to a sustainable and even regenerative model.

From the very beginning of our journey, the Rainforest Alliance has forged innovative solutions to address the global crisis of deforestation. The complex web of pressures that threaten our forests demand comprehensive solutions that address environmental threats at the landscape level and the economic pressures that contribute to destructive supply chains. We constantly evaluate our results in order to amplify our impact.

Quite simply, our solutions work. Join the Rainforest Alliance in helping people and nature prosper together. You’ll receive updates on our work and ways you can get involved.
