The Rainforest Alliance Communications, Education & Marketing Department works to spread the word about the work of the Rainforest Alliance.

The Rainforest Alliance relies on words and images to convey its impact on issues of global concern: climate change, poverty, workers’ rights, wildlife, habitat destruction and water resource management.

The Rainforest Alliance Communications, Education & Marketing Department is looking for an intern with experience in writing and communications, and an interest in photography and nonprofit activism to support this work. Tasks will include researching subject matter and conducting outreach for our organizational blog, researching and updating media relations lists, filing media coverage, providing general administrative support, uploading images to our Flickr account and organizing our photo library, researching communication and outreach strategies at comparable nonprofit organizations, printing, compiling and mailing material to staff and partners, maintaining in-house and online inventory of print materials, helping to maintain internal communications files, tagging and adding descriptions for video content in YouTube, acquiring high-res images for the Shop the Frog database, quality assurance testing changes to the website and other related duties as needed.

The ideal candidate is well organized and independent and able to juggle long-term projects with day-to-day tasks.

Qualifications: 

This internship is ideal for communications students in good academic standing. Solid writing and research skills required. Interest in natural sciences, conservation, communications, or journalism a plus. Minimum commitment of 14 to 21 hours a week required.
