3-4 months, 15 hours per week
Internship Period:
June 1, 2013 - August 31, 2013
Project:

Beginning in June 2013, the Special Events Intern will be responsible for assisting the Special Events team in its preparations for the annual gala in May 2014, as well as smaller fundraising and cultivation events.  The gala is the Rainforest Alliance’s largest annual fundraiser, with $1.5 million raised in 2012.  This is a black-tie event that features a dinner, an award ceremony and an auction.

Tasks will include research projects related to the gala, researching new items for the gala auction and assisting in the coordination of mail lists and mailings.  The Intern will also help with coordinating other event logistics as needed.

This hands-on position is an excellent opportunity to learn about what it takes to put on a large scale, high-profile fundraising event.  Joining the Rainforest Alliance team also affords an inside look into the workings of a large, international environmental nonprofit.

Candidate must be a student currently enrolled in a university or college and in good academic standing.  This position is ideal for students receiving academic credit for internships.  The candidate should be interested in special events fundraising. The candidate should also be a self-starter, resourceful and detail-oriented with great written and oral communication skills.  Adeptness with the Internet and Microsoft office is required.  Experience with Luminate is a plus. This position requires a minimum commitment of 15 hours a week.
