Special Events Intern
The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Our 20+ member development team is responsible for raising financial and philanthropic support for the Rainforest Alliance’s conservation programs around the world, a portion of which is raised from corporate and individual giving for special events.
Beginning in January 2015, the Special Events Intern(s) will be responsible for assisting the Special Events team in its preparations for the annual gala in May 2015, as well as smaller fundraising and cultivation events. The gala is the Rainforest Alliance’s largest annual fundraiser, with $1.5 million raised in 2014. This is a black-tie event that features a cocktail reception, a dinner, an award ceremony and an auction.
Tasks will include research projects related to the gala, helping coordinate details for the gala auction and assisting with mailings. The Intern will also help with coordinating other event logistics as needed.
This hands-on position is an excellent opportunity to learn about what it takes to put on a large scale, high-profile fundraising event. Joining the Rainforest Alliance team also affords an inside look into the workings of a large, international environmental non-profit.
