Broadcast your commitment to a better tomorrow

Follow the Frog 2014 will rely on social media to build momentum around the growing movement for a better tomorrow. How? By informing, inspiring and encouraging people to take action. And by broadcasting the story of sustainability— your story—to people who care.

How can you get involved? By actively sharing the steady stream of engaging content that the Rainforest Alliance and the Guardian will be posting over the course of the next 10 months—videos, blogs, articles and photos that tell the story of how we are all connected, like this heartwarming piece about cocoa farmer Adrien Kouadio in Cote d'Ivoire.

When you're tweeting or posting on Facebook and Instagram, use the #FollowTheFrog hashtag to show people how your products bearing the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal are part of the bigger picture of sustainability.

We strongly encourage you to monitor our social media feeds closely throughout the campaign for links to fresh content. We've also listed some general sample messages for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in the tabs below along with some tips to get you started. On Twitter...

  • Keep it fresh! Follow @RnfrstAlliance, @RnfrstAll_UK and @RnfrstAll_AU and check our feeds regularly—we'll be tweeting links to new stories and fresh content every day, as well as news about your events and promotions, throughout our 10-month campaign. Retweet away, and don't forget to mention @RnfrstAlliance so we can retweet you too.
  • Encourage your followers to follow @RnfrstAlliance.
  • Use the #FollowTheFrog hashtag wherever possible.
  • From September 15, 2014, tweet the link to the Guardian-Rainforest Alliance Partner Zone www.theguardian.com/rainforest-alliance-partner-zone to let your followers know about this trove of content related to all the things they care about most: sustainability, ethical sourcing, the health of our most vital ecosystems, biodiversity and more.
  • Use our sample tweets below.

  • Beginning on September 15, use some of our sample messages below to let your followers know about Follow the Frog—the launch of the campaign and your support for the movement!
  • Beginning September 15, 2014, post links to the Guardian-Rainforest Alliance Partner Zone www.theguardian.com/rainforest-alliance-partner-zone for features and stories about the Rainforest Alliance's work on the ground. Highlight those that are most relevant to your company and its products or services.
  • Post facts about your product, its origins and why it’s more sustainable. For example: “Did you know our coffee is grown on Rainforest Alliance Certified farms that protect the environment and the well-being of communities?”
  • Post images of your products with the green frog seal or photos of the people and places behind your products/services, with the #FollowTheFrog hashtag.
  • Encourage customers, fans and followers to post their photos of your products with the green frog seal to the Rainforest Alliance Facebook page, using the #FollowTheFrog hashtag.
  • Feel free to post our videos to help explain the benefits of certification and verification. For example: “Our products are FSC® certified by the Rainforest Alliance, ensuring they meet the highest standard of responsible forestry. See why this matters.”
  • Boost your engagement by posing imaginative question: “If you could visit one of our Rainforest Alliance Certified tea estates, where would you go?”
  • Ask fans to “follow the frog” by liking the Rainforest Alliance.
  • Direct fans to visit relevant pages on our website to learn more about sustainably sourced ingredients in your products.

  • Post lifestyle/glamour shots featuring your products, such as a perfect cappuccino, truffles made with certified cocoa, beauty products in a spa still-life or cooking/baking tableaus with your product prominently featured.
  • Action shots are also great. Think: adventurer enjoying a sports bar made with certified cocoa at the edge of a cliff.
  • Encourage your followers to post their own images using #FollowtheFrog and mentioning @rainforestalliance—we will regularly select the best #FollowtheFrog images and feature them on our Instagram feed and Facebook page.
