Melanie Salmon

Melanie joined the Rainforest Alliance’s Ambassadors circle in October of 2020. With a life-long love of the environment, she has worked for many of the world's leading conservation organizations.

In 2006 she founded Global Ocean UK as a privately funded charitable foundation , where she has implemented environmental art education projects for children and marine conservation campaigns on plastic poison, sharks, rays, and sawfish. Global Ocean UK also sponsors projects and campaigns to help children inherit a healthy living ocean, rich in biodiversity, across the UK, India, United Arab Emirates and the United States.

Melanie earned her master’s degree in social anthropology and art history from the University of St. Andrews and a law degree from Westminster University. Her love for the field prompted the co-authoring of the book Deep Water, an exploration and celebration of the beauty of marine life, for the United Nations Environment Programme.
