Rainforest Alliance Regenerative Agriculture Certification
Farming that heals the Earth requires a well-designed certification program. Ours is designed to protect and improve:
Soil health and fertility
Starting from the ground up: Enriching soils and increasing soil cover through organic composting provide a healthy foundation for regeneration.
Climate resilience
Agroforestry, climate-resilient plants, and other practices (such as leaving low-growing weeds to protect soils during floods and droughts) can help farms withstand climate impacts.
Biodiversity
Increasing natural vegetation and tree cover welcomes pollinators, birds, and wildlife.
Water
Planting buffers alongside streams, using water-efficient irrigation, and harvesting rainwater helps keep water sources clean and safe for communities.
Livelihoods
Supporting access to more rewarding markets and respecting human rights strengthens livelihoods.
What does it take to become Rainforest Alliance Certified?
A lot! Farms and companies have to meet a set of rigorous requirements (known as a standard) to earn certification.
Our Regenerative Agriculture Certification is based on our Regenerative Agriculture Standard.
Independent auditors periodically visit farms and companies to check that they are meeting the requirements of the standard. When they do, they are awarded certification—and only then may they display our regenerative seal on their products.
