The Rainforest Alliance UK is a legally independent organisation to the Rainforest Alliance USA.
The work of both organisations is aligned, and they share the same mission, vision, and strategy. However, by working in the UK, the Rainforest Alliance is furthering its development work in Africa and South Asia, as well as its markets-based work in Europe. Its work has a particular emphasis on tea, cocoa, and palm oil, with leading experts in those programmes based in London.
The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behaviour.
We envision a world where people and planet prosper together.
At the heart of the Rainforest Alliance’s approach is the understanding that the health of the land is inextricably connected to the wellbeing of those who depend on it for their livelihoods. Our approach includes training and certification to promote healthy ecosystems and communities in some of the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems.
We work with forward-thinking farmers, forest managers and tourism operations that are committed to sustainable land management, poverty reduction, and natural resource conservation, to conserve natural resources and ensure the long-term economic health of nearby communities. We support farmers and foresters with training and technical assistance to develop independent sustainable enterprises. We work with companies in the UK and Europe to strengthen their understanding of their supply chains and guide their responsible sourcing policies. We educate consumers about the critical issues facing people and their environments in the countries where we work and build demand for sustainably produced commodities.
