Conserving the Peruvian Amazon: Madre de Dios

The Rainforest Alliance worked with indigenous communities in the Madre de Dios region of the Peruvian Amazon to develop forest-friendly enterprises that support conservation and guard against the environmental threats of illegal logging and mining.

This work is part of the Initiative for Conservation in the Andean Amazon (ICAA), a long-term regional program created by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) that brings together more than 30 local and international partner organizations for the conservation of the Amazon biome in Ecuador, Colombia and Peru.
