Advancing Regenerative Agriculture with Lavazza
Last updated April 21, 2026
The world loves coffee—but not all coffee is created equal. Some farming methods damage soil, water, and biodiversity, making it harder for farmers to grow this beloved crop—and to support their families.
Regenerative agriculture offers a different path: one that goes beyond harm reduction to nourish soil, protect water, enhance biodiversity, and tackle climate challenges.
Together with Lavazza, we’re not just imagining a better world—we’re brewing it.
Regeneration in Action: Honduras
Lavazza directly supported farms in the Siguatepeque area of Honduras to achieve the new Rainforest Alliance Regenerative Agriculture Certification.
Through dedicated training and on-farm support, Honduran farmers are now strengthening soil health, protecting water sources, enhancing biodiversity, and building greater climate resilience—all while securing their livelihoods into the future.

Lavazza: an early adopter of the new Rainforest Alliance Regenerative Agriculture Certification
Building on our years-long collaboration, Lavazza became an early implementer of our new Rainforest Alliance Regenerative Agriculture Certification. This foundational role allowed Lavazza to launch the first coffee product for professionals that is certified under our two standards:
- Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standard
- Rainforest Alliance Regenerative Agriculture Standard
The double-certified product? La Reserva de ¡Tierra! Selection.
Lavazza’s La Reserva de ¡Tierra! Selection
La Reserva de ¡Tierra! Selection, a refined 100 percent Arabica blend dedicated to coffee professionals, sources from double-certified farms in both Honduras and Brazil, where coffee is grown with practices that aim to improve soil health, restore ecosystems, and support farming communities.
A medium-bodied, aromatic espresso with a sweet, well-balanced taste profile, La Reserva de ¡Tierra! Selection is designed to ensure consistency, reliability, and performance in professional extraction. It combines washed Arabica—featuring delicate floral notes and sweetness from these Honduran farms—with natural Arabica from Brazil that offers body and notes of dried fruit and milk chocolate.
The result is a distinctive coffee that was cultivated in ways that are better for people and nature.

Rainforest Alliance Regenerative Agriculture Certification
Farming that heals the Earth requires a well-designed certification program. Ours is designed to protect and improve:
Soil health and fertility
Starting from the ground up: Enriching soils and increasing soil cover through organic composting provide a healthy foundation for regeneration.
Climate resilience
Agroforestry, climate-resilient plants, and other practices (such as leaving low-growing weeds to protect soils during floods and droughts) can help farms withstand climate impacts.
Biodiversity
Increasing natural vegetation and tree cover welcomes pollinators, birds, and wildlife.
Water
Planting buffers alongside streams, using water-efficient irrigation, and harvesting rainwater helps keep water sources clean and safe for communities.
Livelihoods
Supporting access to more rewarding markets and respecting human rights strengthens livelihoods.
