Rainforest Alliance Kicks Off 30th Anniversary with #FollowTheFrog Campaign

Challenges Consumers and Businesses to Join a Movement to Create a More Sustainable Future with the #FollowTheFrog 30-Day Sustainability Challenge

The Rainforest Alliance, a leading international nonprofit organization committed to biodiversity and ensuring sustainable livelihoods, today announced the launch of its #FollowTheFrog Campaign, which kicks off the organization’s 30th anniversary year. Now through February 12, 2017, the #FollowTheFrog Campaign will empower individuals and businesses to sign on and join the Rainforest Alliance’s global movement to rebalance the world through brand choices and everyday actions to make a positive impact on the planet.

As part of the #FollowTheFrog Campaign, the Rainforest Alliance is inviting everyone to take the #FollowTheFrog 30-Day Sustainability Challenge which will include a simple but meaningful step-by-step guide on how to #FollowtheFrog to a more sustainable tomorrow.

“We are proud to kick off our 30th anniversary year by empowering people to join the sustainability journey through our #FollowTheFrog 30-Day Sustainability Challenge,” said Susan Arnot Heaney, Director of Marketing and Collaborating Company Engagement for the Rainforest Alliance. "If we each commit to making even small changes in our everyday lives, together we can make a significant positive impact on our planet and create a more sustainable future. Start with 30 days, but keep it going, and together we can help change the world!”

The actions of the #FollowTheFrog 30-Day Sustainability Challenge will help raise awareness of critical issues that affect the health our planet, including water conservation, “green” travel, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, recycling and more.  Every three days, over 30 days, all who sign up will receive an email with simple actions to make a difference—a total of 10 emails with 30 inspiring ideas to echo the Rainforest Alliance 30th anniversary. For the past 30 years, the Rainforest Alliance has worked towards a vision of a world rebalanced, with strong forests and thriving communities. Focused on sustainable agriculture, forestry and tourism, the Rainforest Alliance has since its inception in 1987 engaged farmers and forest managers in more than 70 countries, applied our expertise to more than 100 crops, and worked with thousands of companies that produce or source sustainable products. The Rainforest Alliance helped pioneer sustainability-oriented agricultural and forestry certification, and the “green frog” seal is a globally-recognized mark of sustainability. Over three decades, Rainforest Alliance programs have trained more than 1.4 million people in earth-friendly land-management practices, resulting in more than 49 million hectares of farm and forestlands under sustainable management worldwide.
