Key Elements for Sustainable and Equitable Forest Marketing

This educational guide is intended to serve as a complementary and support tool for teachers who deliver content related to the forestry sector in community-based contexts. It is designed to strengthen classroom work by offering pedagogical and explanatory resources that facilitate a deeper and more meaningful understanding among students. The guide is based on contextualized information, taking into account the social, organizational, productive, and cultural realities of the communities of the Yucatán Peninsula, with the aim of contributing to more relevant education that is closely linked to the territory.
The contents presented here address, in an integrated manner, the fundamental topics of forestry knowledge from a community-based perspective. In particular, this edition focuses on the market link within the forest value chain and includes the following thematic areas: an introduction to access to forest markets, the commercialization of timber products, value addition in non-timber products, forest certification and its relationship to market access, as well as tools for conducting market studies and identifying business opportunities.
