Mark Pinho


Mr. Pinho has been a Managing Director in the private equity group of Soros Fund Management LLC since 2006. Prior to joining Soros, he spent four years in the middle market growth equity and buyout space with BCI Partners and LiveWire Capital. Mr. Pinho began his career as an energy investment banker with Salomon Smith Barney.

Mr. Pinho is very active with the University of Virginia, serving on the boards of the Jefferson Trust and Jefferson Scholars Foundation, and is a class trustee for the McIntire School. He is active in the fundraising activities of the National Down Syndrome Society, serving as a member of its Golf Benefit Committee, and has represented Soros Fund Management on the Council for Foreign Relations. Mr. Pinho is passionate about education: he has been a volunteer teacher in charter schools, has been involved in various educational not for profits and working groups, and currently serves on the tri-state local advisory board for Jumpstart. He also serves on the ambassador’s circle for the Rainforest Alliance.

Mr. Pinho graduated from the University of Virginia in 1999 with a B.S. from the McIntire School of Commerce. He also earned an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 2006, where he was a Joseph P. Wharton fellow and president of the Wharton Rugby Football Club. While at Wharton he also was a summer associate at ZelnickMedia.

Mr. Pinho resides in Bronxville, NY with his wife Katie and their three children: Alexander, Emerson and Nathaniel.
